Day 6: Mother's Day Celebration

Today was Mother’s day celebration in Thailand. The blue flags were flown in every corner in Thailand. For your information, blue flag is to respect the queen of Thailand, while yellow flight is to respect the king of Thailand who have already dead.

Students came to school as usual, but today all of them wore blue clothes. They came with their mothers to celebrate mother’s day in school. The students showed the performance in front of their mother, most of them showed dance. After performance was finished, the students showed respect by kneeling and pressing the face to their knees’ mom (in Indonesia called ‘sungkem’). It was very touched moment. A lot of students cried at that time. It immediately made me miss my mom in home.

Indonesia also has Mother’s day, but it is celebrated on every December 22nd. A little different between both is the mother’s day in Indonesia is not celebrated in school like in Thailand. However, mother’s day is actually to remain us again that a mother is the most important person in our life. Mother has looked after us since we were still in womb until now. Her sacrifices for us are uncountable. Many thanks are not enough to repay all of her kindness. Therefore, we should be better person day by day and always make her happy. If we cannot make her happy, at least we should not make her sad.
